Course Architect

Ken Moodie

The Club appointed Ken Moodie of Creative Golf Design in 2017 as our course architect to consider potential changes to the course design and layout.

Ken is a highly acclaimed architect and has been instrumental in the restoration of many heathland courses such as Alwoodley, Moortown and other Top 100 layouts such as Lindrick. Work on a full course restoration began in 2019.  Winter 2019 saw holes 12, 16, and 18 redeveloped, whilst 2020 saw holes 1, 2 & 3 completely renovated.

September 2021 saw us start our biggest project yet to renovate holes 7, 8 & 9 which were ready for the start of the 2022 season.

Over the winter of 2022/23 we have completed the most dramatic changes of any holes to date. Holes 6, 10 & 11 have gone from probably the 3 weakest holes on the course to arguably the best.

With just 6 holes still to renovate over the next two years Ken has really transformed our golf course. Pleasington, once again, is one of the best inland golf courses in Lancashire.

Changes made to the second green. New bunkers built and the green was made bigger. Trees to the left also removed.

The pictures below show the before and after on the newly designed bunkering on the 18th green. There used to be too many bunkers surrounding the green and they were of low quality, we now have quality over quantity but they still provide a stern test.

Our newly designed 6th Hole. A fairway bunker has been added and all of the greenside bunkers rebuilt. Along with the new fairway bunker the quarry has been dug out on the right hand side of the hole, which has made the tee shot a risk and reward shot and makes the hole much more exciting.
