The Pleasington Putter
Established in 1982 to meet a demand from individual low handicap women and girls to compete for a prestigious annual trophy in the North West of England the Pleasington Putter soon became a “must play” on every aspiring county and international player’s list.
At the time there was a requirement for Category 1 handicap players to have at least 4 cards from “away” courses included in their handicap calculations and individual scratch competitions offered good prizes and opportunities to get both handicap cards and a prestigious title should the player be fortunate enough to win.
Many of the winners have progressed into the Professional ranks and enjoyed success on the LET Tour and as teaching professionals too.
The competition continues to attract a high quality field with players regularly coming from overseas and from all the home nations in search of the elusive WAGR points that are on offer.
